Benzie County Arrests Today
Benzie County posts no 24-hour or 48-hour booking list. The Sheriff site and the county pages carry nothing of the kind. The jail still keeps its own internal record, of course. But no public list can name everyone processed today. The Benzie County Corrections Division page explains how the jail runs. The Sheriff page gives a direct phone route. An arrest can happen before Corrections accepts anyone. A person may be cited, released, transferred, or held by another agency in the meantime. The county publishes no refresh rate, weekend rule, or roll-off period. So an empty result never proves that no arrest occurred.
The official Sheriff contact page is captured below.
Use this government page when an unofficial result conflicts with a custody inquiry.
Check Benzie Arrests Today
Start with the office closest to the event. The Sheriff's business line is 231-882-4484, open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., except holidays. Save 911 for emergencies.
- Prepare the full legal name, likely arrest date, and arresting agency if known.
- Ask Sheriff or Corrections staff whether the person is held at Benzie County Jail.
- Ask what public booking number, charge, bond, release, or transfer details can be confirmed.
- Check MiCOURT for a filed case and MI-VINE for an available custody event.
- Request a written booking sheet or photo through Sheriff FOIA when needed.
Each channel answers a different question. A call covers current custody, a booking sheet covers jail intake, MiCOURT covers court filings, and MI-VINE reports selected custody events. The Benzie County recent arrests hub maps every source.
Benzie Same-Day Arrest Fields
There is no public result screen to read. Treat these details as facts to request by phone. The arresting agency and the jail describe two different moments. An officer's report covers the stop and arrest. The booking record starts only when Corrections accepts the person and enters intake data. Someone cited and released may never get a standard Benzie County Jail entry. The same goes for a person transferred before county intake or held elsewhere. So name the agency and the location. Ask staff to trace a same-day case from there.
| Field | Status and source |
|---|---|
| Name and booking time | Expected intake data; ask jail or request the record |
| Booking number | Internal identifier useful in a focused request |
| Arresting agency | Ask jail or obtain the agency report |
| Charges as booked | Accusations; compare with the later court docket |
| Bond | Time-sensitive; verify with jail and court |
| Custody, release, transfer | Confirm through jail and available VINE events |
| Booking photo | Intake photography confirmed; public web display not found |
A release does not erase the intake record. Still, an old booking photo proves nothing about custody today. Time stamps need context too. The arrest time, the jail acceptance time, the computer entry, the arraignment, and the public response can all differ, and Benzie promises no fixed connection between them, so note exactly which time a staffer or record supplies.
Bond figures deserve a second look. An arraignment can change the terms recorded at intake, so confirm any amount with the court. Photographs need the same care. Request the image tied to the exact booking number so it is not confused with an older event under the same name.
A good inquiry also separates confirmation from documentation. Staff may confirm that a named person is held without releasing a full intake sheet on the call. Ask which facts are current, which need a written request, and which belong to the arresting agency or the court. If no booking turns up, note the time. Also note whether staff checked the Benzie County Jail rather than another detention system. That paper trail pays off later. A court filing, transfer notice, or FOIA response that shows up afterward will make far more sense beside it.
Benzie Arrest Roster Gap
The county offers no inmate name search, no booking-number search, no result cards, and no photo policy online. Intake staff do plenty behind the scenes, though. Corrections describes receiving people, photographing and fingerprinting them, searching them, and entering the data. None of that creates a public roster. This is a classic Benzie quirk. A private site stays private no matter how official its domain looks, and BenzieSheriff.com says plainly that it is privately owned, so its form confirms nothing about county custody.
- Arrest
- Law-enforcement restraint before guilt is decided.
- Booking
- Jail intake after acceptance into detention.
- Arraignment
- An early hearing where charges and release terms may be addressed.
- Disposition
- The later court outcome.
Someone arrested today may have no docket yet. Another may have a case but no longer sit in jail, so match every claim to its source and date.
Request Benzie Booking Records
Ended custody events go through the Sheriff FOIA page. Email, fax, mail, or deliver it in person. Label it a FOIA request, name the person, date, agency, and each item sought, and ask for the booking sheet and the photo separately.

The county allows five business days for most requests, with extensions possible. Fees may apply. No fixed photo price is posted. A written response will say whether the agency holds the record, needs more detail, claims an exemption, or requires added time. Keep it with your original request. Together they show what the Sheriff searched, and they stop a missing webpage from being misread as proof that no Benzie booking record exists. MCL 15.243 permits exemptions for privacy, investigations, safety, and jail security, and non-exempt portions can still be requested if part of a file is withheld. The official request instructions appear below.
Note: this is the authoritative request channel, not a guarantee that every booking image will be released.
Benzie Arrest App History
Back in 2013, the Record Patriot wrote about a free "App Arrest" tool. It was meant to keep residents and deputies connected. The county hoped it would carry a recently incarcerated list. Plans also included alerts for safety, crashes, weather, and schools. Today, though, Benzie County's official pages offer no app-store listing, booking module, or jail feed. Social posts stay selective. They shift without notice, so treat them as a weak trail for Benzie County recent arrests. The historical app report tells the fuller story.
Its date matters. It cannot establish a current booking feature or same-day photo source.
Confirm Benzie Arrest Outcomes
A same-day check is only a snapshot. Save the source, the date, and the time of every answer, since family, counsel, or a support person may be arranging a ride, retrieving property, or tracking a hearing. A transfer means one thing: ask which agency now holds the person and switch to that agency's locator. A release means another: use the court docket for the pending case instead of assuming the matter closed. Charges can be amended or dismissed, and bond often changes at arraignment.
Benzie County's 85th District Court handles misdemeanors and the early felony stages. The 19th Circuit Court takes felony and serious-misdemeanor proceedings. The County Clerk links the official MiCOURT search for both. Match the name, court, case number, dates, and charge text before drawing conclusions. Pull the register of actions or final order for the disposition. One caution applies here. A court file does not promise a booking photo, and a jail record does not prove the court result.
The Benzie County Arrest Reports provide multi-day incident context, not same-day custody confirmation.
